The moment you step into an adventure, there is a string of events that will inevitably take place. With them can come moments of challenge, exhaustion, and sometimes despair. But if you look hard enough, below the surface lie the hidden gems that make the struggle all worthwhile. Those little moments that say: ‘Hey outside! I’ve won.’

20. When you cross the finish line of the season’s first race.
For some, the ‘season’ doesn’t end. For many others, however, winter stands as a season of indoor training, planning, and a yearning for clear (and iceless) trails.
As temperatures slowly begin to rise, the local race calendar begins to fill, and your first event is all of a sudden right around the corner.
You run it, and you do so with a sense of liberation from the long, cold winter that you’ve just left behind.
And when you reach the finish line, you do so with a sense of excitement, knowing that the trail season has only just begun.

Making a splash. Got the shoes and the legs last week myself. Just a training run, so no medals, only mud!
